Feb 1st, 2014 - Arena Announces Lobby Renovations

The Board of Directors of the Notre Dame Arena, Inc, a 501 c4 civic non-profit organization are thrilled to announce today a $300,000 capital improvement project that will completely renovate the front entrance and Lobby area of the facility. The Arena, one of the oldest indoor facilities in the state of New Hampshire, was founded in 1947 by the Catholic Diocese of Manchester. The complete renovation project will update and improve the exterior and interior of the lobby area and roof line as well as remodel the area now occupied by Spartan's Gym. Modern, energy efficient building materials will be used to completely alter the appearance of the facility, showcasing the pride and history of the building.

The project would not be possible without the generous grant of $100,000 from the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund of The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and the participation of Berlin's own general contractor, AR Couture Construction Corporation.  Walt Nadeau from the Berlin and Coos County Historical Society, the actual grantee of the Tillotson funds, spent many hours preparing and submitting the application for approval.  Husky Poirier, Roland Chabot and Al Adams must be smiling ear to ear from hockey heaven to witness the evolution of the modern day Notre Dame Arena.

In addition to the generous grant from the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund of the NH Charitable Foundation, The Notre Dame Arena will provide approximately $65,000 of the funds raised through revenues from charity poker events and a very favorable commercial loan of $85,000 through Northway Bank.  The Notre Dame Arena will be allowed to provide in kind labor to assist Couture Construction in the demolition phase of the project.  The Arena also hopes to be able to raise up to $65,000 within the community to complete the project.  The timetable for completion is August 1st, 2014.  Any one who wishes to help with this worthy community cause can send a check to Notre Dame Arena; P.O. Box 338; Berlin, NH 03570.  On the check, please state "project".
